Position Summary
We’re seeking a bold, visionary leader to serve as our Business Development Director — someone who thrives on building strategic partnerships, driving growth, and elevating impact in the behavioral health space. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with deep industry knowledge, a strong network, and a passion for expanding access to quality care. You’ll be at the forefront of our expansion efforts, shaping the future of our organization through innovative outreach, data-driven strategy, and collaborative leadership.
What You Bring to the Table
Industry Mastery:
Proven success in business development within the Substance Use Disorder and Mental Health sectors, supported by a strong portfolio of industry relationships and an active book of business across inpatient and outpatient services.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or a related field — or equivalent experience leading successful sales initiatives in healthcare.
- 5–7 years of progressive experience in business development, sales, or strategic partnerships.
- Experience across private, public, nonprofit, or for-profit healthcare environments is highly valued.
- Registration as a Substance Use Disorder Counselor (CCAPP, CADTP, or CAADE) is preferred but not required.
Track Record of Results:
- Demonstrated ability to exceed growth targets and deliver measurable outcomes — such as revenue increases, expanded market share, or enhanced referral pipelines.
Leadership & Communication:
- Strong management and supervision skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with a talent for building trust and influence across diverse stakeholders.
Technical Proficiency:
- Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Familiarity with CRM systems and other business development tools.
Compliance & Readiness:
- Valid CA ID or Driver’s License, insurable under company policy.
- Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification, health screening, TB clearance, and drug test results.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Growth & Market Expansion
- Design and execute comprehensive strategies to meet revenue goals and drive organizational growth.
- Identify emerging market opportunities and lead initiatives to capitalize on them.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to set financial and operational benchmarks.
- Establish and monitor monthly quotas and quarterly revenue objectives.
Marketing & Community Engagement
- Partner with the Marketing team to amplify brand visibility through events, conferences, and public speaking.
- Oversee the creation of marketing materials and ensure alignment with brand standards.
- Represent the organization externally to expand referral networks and community partnerships.
- Develop innovative outreach strategies to maximize ROI and strengthen core services.
Admissions & Referral Integration
- Maintain a deep understanding of Admissions and Clinical workflows to ensure seamless referral integration.
- Work closely with the Admissions Team Lead to optimize processes and outcomes.
- Audit outreach efforts to assess their impact on client census and engagement.
- Provide coaching and training to staff on business development best practices.
Team Leadership & Operational Excellence
- Lead and mentor the Business Development team, fostering a culture of accountability and innovation.
- Support the development of a clinical marketing outreach team as the organization scales.
- Implement and manage CRM systems to track leads, revenue, and strategic partnerships.
- Collaborate with leadership to evaluate the success of campaigns and initiatives using objective metrics.
Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement
- Prepare compelling reports, presentations, and proposals for internal and external stakeholders.
- Represent the organization at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities.
- Champion company culture and uphold organizational values in all interactions.
- Continuously seek opportunities to elevate standards and improve performance across all initiatives.
