Position Summary
The Housekeeper ensures the cleanliness, sanitation, and safety of all facility areas in compliance with healthcare standards. This role is critical to maintaining a hygienic environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
Responsibilities
- General Cleaning & Maintenance
- Clean and sanitize patient rooms, bathrooms, common areas, offices, and designated outdoor spaces.
- Perform dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, and surface disinfection.
- Empty trash and replace liners according to infection control protocols.
- Infection Control & Compliance
- Follow facility infection prevention policies, including proper use of EPA-approved disinfectants.
- Adhere to OSHA standards for handling biohazardous waste and bloodborne pathogen safety.
- Perform isolation room cleaning and terminal cleaning after patient discharge.
- Laundry & Linen Services
- Wash, dry, fold, and replace bed linens, towels, and other fabrics, ensuring proper handling of contaminated items.
- Supply Management
- Monitor and maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and PPE.
- Report shortages promptly and ensure secure storage of chemicals.
- Safety & PPE
- Use personal protective equipment (gloves, masks, gowns) as required.
- Handle and store cleaning chemicals safely per OSHA guidelines.
- Waste Disposal
- Segregate and dispose of medical and biohazard waste in designated containers.
- Documentation
- Complete cleaning logs for patient rooms, high-touch surfaces, and common areas as required by regulatory standards.
- Vehicle & Meal Support
- Perform monthly detailed cleaning of company vehicles.
- Distribute meals to residential buildings when needed.
- Emergency Preparedness
- Assist with sanitization during infection outbreaks or facility emergencies.
- Other Duties
- Perform additional tasks as assigned to ensure smooth facility operations.
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1–2 years housekeeping experience; healthcare setting preferred.
- Physical stamina and attention to detail.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Ability to pass a background check and complete the Employee Health Questionnaire.
- Commitment to punctuality, adaptability, and integrity.
