More About Edward
Ed started cooking at the young age of 12. He enjoyed cooking for the family. Little did he know, that would be the beginning of his career. He attended a technical school for food preparation in high school. Upon graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy as a cook. He spent the next 20 years in the Navy and was hand-selected to be one of the eight Navy cooks for Al Gore during his term as Vice President of the United States. He worked at his residence and did everything from cooking to serving black tie dinner parties.
After leaving the Navy, he set out a new journey and moved to California. He worked at the Radisson Hotel as a banquet cook and eventually as a banquet sous chef. From there, he moved on to the Sacramento Marriott Hotel as a banquet chef for 5 years.
In 2008, when the market crashed, he was laid off. Ed quickly regained his footing and started working at Thunder Valley Casino. He worked in the buffet and the team dining room for the next 5 years.
Ed wanted to do something different, and along came cooking for their seniors. He enjoyed cooking for them and loved listening to all their life stories for the next 7 years.
The same passion brought him to California Recovery Center. He likes building relationships with the people he cooks for. Seeing the residents enjoy his cooking warms his heart and gives him all the more excitement in serving them together with the rest of the staff.
