An Overview of Outpatient Recovery Programs

by | Jan 13, 2025 | Recovery

When seeking outpatient recovery programs, it is important to find the right one that fits what you’re looking for and the specific care you require. Inpatient programs require patients to live onsite, sometimes for up to three months, for the duration of their program. However, stepping away from work, family, and other obligations for that extended amount of time doesn’t work for everyone. Outpatient programs are designed around the concept that patients can continue their daily lives while also going through the recovery process. Within this category, there are different options based on the level of care each patient needs.

Intensive Outpatient Program

Intensive outpatient programs allow patients to seek substance use disorder treatment while returning home at the end of the day. This program requires patients to come onsite only for about 9 hours a week for 3 days a week.

Partial Hospitalization Program

Partial hospitalization programs are another alternative to a traditional inpatient program. With this option, patients seek treatment, but they do reside onsite at the recovery center. This program requires patients to attend onsite counseling for about 20 hours a week or about five days a week.

Outpatient Program

Outpatient programs allow patients to go through the recovery process without checking into a facility. Just like our inpatient programs, patients will have access to group and individual therapy sessions, as well as support from our certified healthcare professionals to guide them through their recovery journey. This form of treatment is ideal for working professionals and those suffering from moderate addiction issues, as patients only need to attend onsite sessions one day a week.
